Hi I am one of the people wronged by a certain Company in Tennerife. Having had the majority of the money returned with the help of Inventory Solutions I still have Barclays on my back but have told them they will not get a penny more. Unfortunately I was left with a week at Hollywood Mirage which I have never used. I have now been billed with interest for maintenance. My question is how do I get rid of this Albatross as I know nobody will buy it,since I am about to be made redundant. Any help appreciated. |

| Like you, we have an unwanted timeshare at the Beverley Hills Club. (I won't go into detail about how we came to own here as I could sell the film rights!!!) We have had this since 2000 and have had some ok holidays but due to changes of circumstances have been unable to afford the maintenance fees this year. I received an invoice today, with interest added and don't know what to do! We tried to sell it back to them a few years ago but the Re-sales company at the Mirage would only put it on a list to sell if we purchased another week! They kept us "prisoners" for almost five hours of really hard sell and were very rude indeed when we would not buy. This ruined our holiday and I don't want to go back there ever again. We have been paying the fees for a number of years without using our week. This year it has become impossible to pay but I don't know how to go about selling it. I suppose if the fees were paid it could be sold privately? How is this done? I have the "deeds" but I don't know where to start....Have you thought of doing this? I often get calls from companies asking if I would like to sell and offering silly sums of money. I never accept as I know that most of these so called companies are dodgy.... |

| Hi V8 Rumble, I just read your post where you mention that you had positive dealings with Inventory Solutions. I just posted on another thread that I have been recommended this company, but wanted to know more about them from people who have had experience in working with them. Could you possibly tell me more about your experiences with Inventory Solutions? Either post it here or send me an e-mail (anna.penley@gmail.com). Cheers. |

| Anna, stay away from Inventory Solutions (as lawnmower suggests, just type the name into the search engine on this website and you'll see what's been said about them before). Interestingly, guess who's been searching for Inventory Solutions this week? Our friend Sandy Grey. (I won't expand here for fear of censorship, but will send you a private message) |

Just because someone registers with a name does not mean that is there actual name - my real name is not doggy50k (shock).
Just because someone who has called themselves Sandy Grey does not mean that it is him...

| We have been trying to get rid of an unwanted week aswell at BHC.We were told that it would be sold in the first year.Still have it 5 years later. We were sent a letter stating that if we wanted to hand it back we were to sign the form sent to us and that they would take it back.but we would not get any money for it. |

We also have unwanted weeks. We are both pensioners in ill health and MacDonald's are not interested in taking our weeks back. We are willing to give these away free. We have a 1 bedroom, week 49 and a 2 bedroom, week 5 at Dona Lola. If anyone is interested in taking these weeks (singly or together) off our hands, we will pay transfer fees.

I will state up front that I am a Macdonald owner and am pulled in different directions over the hard line that Macdonald take with ownership. In pure business terms it makes no sense simply to allow people to say that they no longer want their unit(s) and to accept them back. By so doing Macdonald lose maintenance fees and land themselves with the additional costs of trying to sell on weeks which are probably in very little demand. On the other hand if owners in the situation above simply stop paying the maintenance fees what is the point of Macdonald throwing good money after bad in chasing the debt? There must surely be a situation where logic, humanity and finance come to a common conclusion that taking the unit back is the only sensible decision. I certainly wouldn't support a blanket decision to accept back any unit owned by a person over x years of age. Every situation should be considered on its individual merit and a decision made accordingly. I wish you luck in disposing of the units. |
Regards

Thank you for the comments. We have long been aware of the problem of stopping payment of management fees, the cost being passed on to others. However, since I was diagnosed with advanced, aggressive, incurable cancer, my outlook has changed. We are now fully aware that our 2 winter weeks are so unattractive that we cannot give them away. (And Macdonalds won't help us.) But there are more possible courses of action than you mentioned. One extreme would be for Macdonalds to close the resort, or part of the resort, in winter. This is already being considered by other companies. However, we cannot sell our timeshare weeks because they are so expensive at a CHEAP time of year. We have been all too aware that our resort is deserted while the Costa del Sol is MOBBED with people of a similar age to us on cheap package holidays! Although it is off-season, we are charged peak rates. The way out is to reduce winter management fees to a COMPETITIVE rate which would be agreeable to winter owners like us because we would no longer want to sell. Moreover, it would also benefit the timeshare companies because more people would want to buy winter weeks. I am about to launch an offensive on Macdonalds with these ideas. Jackson |

CORPORATE - you have been warned about touting for business - if you want to advertise contact timesharetalk himself.
Your current actions have been brought to the attention of Timesharetalk and any further transgressions may result in your removal |
