Any one heard of this lot? I was cold called yesterday, offering to 'list' my timeshare, and I would hear from them later when they had a buyer! Yeah, right! When asked, he said he was phoning from Estepona. When I said 'that makes a change from Arroyo de la Miel or Benalmadena' he got a bit frosty! Is this someone we know who has moved down the coast? I asked him to send me some info on his company by post, but he referred me to a website 'globalholidayservices.com'. I'm a bit IT/Internet challenged, but I couldn't find it! Any clues? |

| When they find a buyer and want an upfront fee - that's when you know you they are trying to con you. I wouldn't worry about the name.......they start up and disappear so fast. Remember one "advance fee" company went bust recently - they are bound to start up under antoher name soon. It's too succesful a scam to give up. |

| The site exists but was registered only in February. Registered with a service provider at the address "PO Box 99800 EmeryVille" - this seems to host any number of sites which you would not want to do business with. There is no internet footprint for this company - Google shows only their site, this enquiry, a jobs site and a trade directory (estate agents). They refer to their 'experience and expertise' - since they have been in business for less than five weeks either they haven't any or they gained it under another name. |

We have received a phone call 8th May 2008 stating that they had a buyer and needed to conclude the deal that same day. After stalling them for the rest of the day they continued to call on the 9th in an attempt to persuade us to sell our one bed at Royal Tenerife Gardens. The Timeshare Consumers Council say that, under no circumstances, pay an upfront fee so we will be avoiding these people, particularly as we note from the forum that they have only been in business for five weeks!! We checked their website which in our opinion is pretty naff and uninformative as to the service they provide. Anybody could set up a similar website. They also are keen to point out that you can get a refund on your credit card protection if the transaction fails within 2 months. Not a good advert for a business!! |

| ABSOLUTELY correct, listen to the telephone conversation of how convincing they are at trying to get you to use your creditcard, and said too that they had a buyer downstairs.....and now from the other discussions on these forums, it appears that GLOBAL Holiday Services GHS are also saying the same thing, but also they are saying that they have been in business five years, yet from our informaiton we can check, its only since feb 2008. Furthermore We didnt have them calling about this scam with government compensations, but we did get a call from global holiday services trying to say that they had people downstairs who have just paid a non refundable deposit, and we are required to pay GHS a deposit by visa for £995.00 blah blah.... and then we would get by telegraphic transfer / or cheque, £5250 if the buyers dont pull out, etc. After the conversation, WE SAID NO, we are never going to pay anymore money up front!!! So it appears Global Holiday Services are both trying to scam for both compensation and bogus buyers that just hpapen to want your property. haha. Fancy listening to the conversation we caught on the phone simply go to www.comtutorsupport.com/TelephoneGlobalholidayservicesJune23rd2008.MP4 we recorded it by mobile recording with the video, but you will be able to hear the conversation clearly. if oyu cant play, simply download VLC media player... www.comtutorsupport.com/vlc.exe FREE OF CHARGE. |

We have been contacted today, with the view they had someone who was interested in one of our weeks and they wanted £500, which they said we could reclaim if it goes wrong We would rather not go down that route. We too have read and take notice of no cash up front.. We have been caught a few times and this sounds like another scam to us.
Best wishes Hardygang |

| You can't get your money back from the credit card company as of right. The may well do a clawback within ten days but otherwise they will point out that you gave your details voluntarily and will require you to prove that it is not just a deal which fell through, but a scam. |

This Global Holiday Services still very active (by the sound of the background noise they seem to have a large number of sales persons!) Thanks to this site, I refused their 'requirement' for a large upfront payment. Cheers TM |

I was contacted on the 15/07/2008 (Philip Saint) and again on the 21/07/2008 Alan Miller) from Global Holiday Services saying they had a buyer downstairs and would I accept their offer. However there is always a catch they wanted 1200 euros as a security desposit and of course my credit cards details. I refused to give these details and told Alan miller that their company was on a 'Blacklist'he soon put the phone down. If these companies were honest and aboveboard why do they need a deposit? They give you all the talk knowing that they are out to con and scam you!!!!!!! BEWARE!!! |

Last week I had two calls on consecutive days from Global Holiday Services - one from an office in Estopona and one from an office in La Cala.
Both representatives said they had just had a 'presentation' and had offers from buyers wishing to purchase my timeshare in El Capistrano at acceptable prices.
Hoever an upfront refundable deposit from me was required to secure the sale!
I managed to get a draft contract from GHS and Clause 3 states ' GHS act soley as agents and cannot be held resposible or liable in the event the puchaser fails to complete'.
This means that if the buyer (if there is is one) pulls out of the purchase; you have lost your deposit, altough GHS will continue to market your timeshare for a year.
You will not be able to reclaim any deposit paid by credit card under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, as the deposit paid was in accordance with their contract.
Needles to say I declined I declined their offers to purchase my timeshare!

| I was also contacted by Global holiday Services.. On the 24th of July. My first thoughts were to tell them where to go, As i have fallen for previous timeshare companies scams. However i was desperate to sell mine so i went with global after much thought. I was expecting to be stung by them as i have done before. The gentleman i spoke to from Global was professional and explained things very well. I had to pay £995 up front, which i did with my credit card, Knowing fully i was covered should the sale fall through. Anway to cut a long story short, Im rid of my timeshare at long last, and £5600 better off. It took 5 weeks for it all to go through and for me to recieve my money. And i also got my £995 refunded to my credit card. Anway just adding my experience with them. Im surprised at the amount of negative comments, If i had read this a few weeks ago i would have been very worried :) |

JoJO24, Your news is wonderful. In 5 weeks you got £5,600-00 and Global holiday Services got their commission. MAGIC. Tell us more. Where did you own and how many weeks did you sell? If I send them the money upfront, will I get £5,600-00 for my timeshare and my money back? Please say YES, I'm just a poor fool, Billyboy. |

Just got contacted by them also. I did ask, "any up front fees"...No "any Security I need to pay if they find a buyer"....no, in fact its illegal to ask for money from the buyer.
Maybe they have changed their policy and I will sell one of our weeks with no money up front? Yeh, and I believe jojo's story and there's an Easter Bunny! |

| I was cold called today by this lot so they are still active. Seems like another scam. I have had 4 cold calls in as many weeks from various companys for I am very wary. Somewhere someone has released my contact details. I have my timeshare listed with 2 recommended UK resellers so I have to suspect their involvement. I stalled this lot today until I had checked them out here. It would be nice to believe jojo but its funny that she only became a member here after she had supposedly sold her timeshare. Most people come here for info & advice beforehand. I think I smell a plant. The scammers are aware of these forums. Its a minefield. I am considering a walk-away on mis-selling grounds. |

We were just cold called by this company, Global Holiday Services, I think we've been called by them before but I've never been quick enough to get heir name. This time I managed to get as far as requesting their telephone number befoore they hung up! I was trying to ascertain where they got our name from but failed miserably.
They are working with an out of date database as we changed the names on our timesahre a few years back and they are still using the previous details.

Hi, I was called recently by Stewart from Transglobal Holiday Services offering a "Travel Saver Holiday Membership" whereby they take your timeshare off your hands and in exchange for (in my case after trade in of my timeshare) £1300... He sent me an email with attachments which indicated that they are associated with the dreaded TIMELINX. Could this be the same crew as mentioned above?? Anyway, I am not going to be suckered into parting with any money as this sounds like a branch of DWVC and others. I honestly don't believe it. I will still keep my t/s as I do use it for exchanges and car hire every year, however if a genuine timeshare resale company actually exists out there and I can get something reasonable I will bight their hands off. Lets face it they are actually as rare as hens teeth and it's never going to happen. I have resigned myself to the fact that I will have to hang on till I can no longer afford the maintenance fees and then hand it back to RP in Tenerife although it will go against the grain, but I have had many excellent exchange holidays since owning since 1992 and all things being equal, I think I have had my moneys worth.
Good luck to every one out there trying to sell but I dont think you ever will. If you do could you let the world know who the honest guy is out there.....

All companies that phone you up & ask if you want to sell are a scam, especially if they operate from Spain. Some have been closed down by the spanish police, only to re-appear again in a diffrent building & under another name.I would suggest that anyone who is contacted, to turn them down them straight away, even if they do sound like they are well educated & polite. My advise for now is to spread the news as much as you can as these companies continue to make huge profits ofrom your credit cards. There are no buyers!. Why else do you think that they all seem to be operating from abroad & not the in the UK. Good luck & remember dont be sucked in no matter what they say & anyone who writes positively on these forums are obviously working for them & are trying to avoid bad press. |

Hi, Yep, they are still at it. Had the cold call today. Funny, but i recognised the voice, it was Fiona, whom funny enough phoned me about a month ago from {banned word/phrase}, i reckon they are linked to them. She obviously didnt realise she had already called me previously. Avoid this company and anyone else who asks for money up front like the plague. How do they seep at night? Yeah right, there IS a recession on, do you seriously think people are buying holiday packs, i dont think so! I wish they would give up keep wasting my time! Cheers Lorraine |

Had a call from Global Holiday Services today saying they had a buyer and for the first time requesting money. Everything else (except the inflated sale price) sounds so convincing, even the email with info for me to check out which I asked for. I spoke to them about scams and they didn't flinch. Glad we read all this beforehand and just wait for their next phone call to tell them NO! They even sent links to fair trading office and {banned word/phrase} which has them as a member (or is {banned word/phrase} made up too)?
Has anyone just stopped paying the maintenance and let the title go back? Or has anyone managed to sell the weeks/points (ours are points) at a giveaway price? |

| {banned word/phrase} is made up too. It was invented by a company which we cannot mention as its very own "Regulatory Body" so that it had something to join. It would seem to follow that any other members of {banned word/phrase} are tainted. |

Hi, I am still being pursued by them, they wont leave me alone. Now they have sent me a Letter of Confirmation guaranteeing that within an 8 week period i dont have the money for my holiday pack then this will give me a full refund! How would this stand with my credit card company, whats the catch! Its stumping me at the minute. I have asked for her to send a copy of a contract so i can let my cc company know. Any help! They must know i am not stupid. {banned word/phrase} was mentioned again and i told them its self regulatory and does nothing in my favour and just protects them. They are peristent! Cheers

| Thanks for the info in {banned word/phrase} OldBill. They just called me again and were said they were sorry when I said no and were insistent that I didn't go to any unscrupulous companies and to take care and check them out! Sooooo convincing! Now trying to find out about the walk away option as some of the maintenance is invoiced in euros and obviously means a big increase this year. |

I too was contacted by GHS 17.1.2009 someone posh speaking called Julia Chapman told me they were based in Estopona as well. Said they had a couple interested in buying my 2 weeks as their clients owned the week preceeding mine - how coincidential!! Anyway GHS wanted 1250euros as guarantor and told me that for 90 days my money was protected by my credit card> I told them that even if my money was protected - if the transaction either fell through or was a scam after their stated completion period - the only people who are the loosers would be the credit card company and not GHS who could continue with their 'supposed sales'. Julia Chapman told me that I could ring Visa or mastercard fraud department to ask if their had b een any complaints about GHS and I would be told none but quite frankly I wouldn't waste the time. Also when I asked for GHS reference number (their ID to credit card company when processing transactions) she told me that she didn't know as this was done by Admin who only work Mon - Fri. How funny.... I wonder how then they would process my details if I gave them my card details over the phone I bet they would be processed asap. Anyway the other interesting thing is that their 'clients' names were the same names given to me some time last year from memory a similar sounding name to GHS and last year the two men I spoke to were really threatening and abnoxious it was great calling thier bluff and stringing them along to waste their phone call time. They too had so called clients whith the same name I was given yesterday and who also live in Scotland and when I did a people search no one of that name and initial lived there. So all in all the scams continue so I would def. say do not part with any card details or money over the phone. |

| I too was contacted by a Mr Jason Clarke from Gobal Holiday services who i might add was very rude and pushy. I did make him aware of this site and all he kept saying was oh get real Sir nobody even uses their real name .. Well Mr Clarke I just have. He also pointed out he was the General manager and they were the leading resales company in Europe, and how I could not lose my money because my credit card had a tracker on it and wait for it they were {banned word/phrase} bonded ...he was so kind to supply me with his personal telephone number which is 0034 914148274! Just getting back to {banned word/phrase}, I was asked to call a Mr Baxendale to confirm that they were bonded, now how in gods name do I know that Mr Baxendale was not sitting at home drinking tea !! |
