Please can anyone tell me if they have had trouble selling their timeshare at Plas Talgarth? I am new to this site but found it via crimeshare.net. My husband and I have been trying to get rid of our two weeks for over five years now - have been ripped off twice by bad organisations [:(!] and are getting no help whatsover from Macdonald Resorts. Any comments from anyone would be appreciated.[:)] Does anyone know if there is a website for Plas Talgarth owners?
Can you name names on the rip off merchants; hopefully you can help prevent others falling foul of such conmen?
No website for Plas Talgarth owners that I am aware of. I do know that there are still a lot of units for sale by Macdonalds at PT in addition to the resales programme. At the last AGM the Macdonald reps were insistent that all units for sale, whether previously unsold weeks, repossessions or owner resales are given the same priority.
What type of unit and the week owned will have a huge bearing on its saleability. Winter weeks in mid-Wales for example are not in high demand.
In addition to Keith's points the other important factor is the price you want for your week. An unrealistic price is unlikely to ever find a buyer whilst even a 'realistic' price will still take time as I believe the resale market is very slow at the moment.
2 companies I've used are Travel & Leisure and Aberfoyle holidays - personally I've had good experiences with both.
I am not surprised that you are geting no help fropm MacDonalds. We owned at Loch rannoch and had the weeks up for sale for years but MacD never found any buyer or I believe never made any effort. We only sold once the new management company had taken over and very quickly. I appreciate this is of no help but highlights the many problems with MacDonalds resorts. Take the advice of Simoncc and why not put in the classifed ads on this site as well.
Thanks for your comments. The two weeks are the February half term week and the October half term week which we bought when our daughters were school age. They were for sale at a realistic price and we have become so desperate to sell we have said we will sell them for £100 each just to get rid of them. Macdonald have lead us to believe that every effort is being put in to sell them but when my husband contact Plas Talgarth recently we discovered that there is no sales office there during the winter! Will look into others advice though. Thanks for your comments.
Have you thought of putting them on ebay? Many Sunterra members wanting to get rid of their points have sold them on there and got a lot more than they had expected.[:)]
Half term weeks should be easier to shift than most outside the main school holidays. I would expect you to get offers on ebay for them. The alternative is the likes of Aberfoyle Holidays who I believe don't charge an upfront fee. They are worth investigating further at least.
Thanks for your replies. Has anyone experience of selling on Ebay. We are not that computer literate! But will give it a go if worthwhile! Are you protected?
As a matter of interest, did Macdonald's provide any advice on selling price?
