Disabled friendly car hire company wanted

Does anyone know of a car hire company in the Canary Islands that has any vehicles that are adapted for special needs travellers?

The request was purely for future reference, nothing specific. I keep a list of these kind of companies in a folder so that if any question is posed I can usually have a dig around and find the answer without having to resort to google.

I've spent months emailing every car-hire firm I can muster in Italy in order to try to find a vehicle with left-foot gas (accelerator). There does not appear to be one available anywhere in Italy...unless you know better !

Hi Flash, I would have trhought that getting one of those from a hire car company would be as likely as finding rocking horse droppings, but do keep us informed if you find one, and if you do can you ask if they have any cars that are adapted to carry wheelchair users?

I'll be delighted but amazed if you do find anywhere that does rent cars adapted for disabled use with anything more than automatic transmission and 'standard' hand controls. As has already been suggested I think even they will be as common as rocking horse poo.
The requirements of disabled drivers are so diverse and specific that it would be near impossible to do effectively.

Actually running a search on "Disabled driver car rental" brings up surprisingly high results. Maybe rocking horse poo isn't as rare as I thought.[

Believe me, I've devoted an inordinate amount of time over recent months to checking out all kinds of Google offerings related to disability travel in my quest to find a hire car with left-foot gas. At the last count I'd contacted in excess of 40 rental firms - Italian, British, German, Dutch - plus numerous UK-based help organisations...all without success.
I did locate several companies offering wheelchair-access vehicles. Shamefully, I haven't kept a note of any. Sorry.
